Another important milestone was reached for the European LIFE MILCH project during the conference "Environment, Diabetes and Endocrine Pathologies in Pediatrics" chaired by Professor M. E. Street. The four project partners—the Universities of Parma, Florence, and Cagliari, and the IRCCS Health Authority of Reggio Emilia—presented the project's results to a large and interested audience of healthcare professionals, pediatricians, and neonatologists. Subsequently, Dr. Cinzia Zugolaro of Sferalab, appointed by the University of Parma, coordinated the focus session "An alliance for a commitment to reducing endocrine disruptors." Nine agreements were signed to reduce endocrine disruptors in commercial products. The nine smart companies are: Asinus Atlanticus, Azolea, Baby Brezza, Buona Spa Società Benefit, the Azores Chamber of Commerce, Delicius Rizzoli Spa Società Benefit, Epinutracell Srl, Fattoria Donna Tina, and Pharmalab. Project Leader Paola Palanza stated: "These agreements mark an important alliance between academia, doctors, and industry to protect children's health and reduce exposure to environmental pollutants." She also emphasized that: "Breast milk is an essential source of nutrition and protection for newborns. It is everyone's responsibility to protect it from endocrine disruptors."
