As part of the European LIFE MILCH project environmental awareness activities were organized and carried out in middle and high schools in the city of Parma. In January 2026, the project specifically involved Fra Salimbene Middle School. In agreement with the school's management and the Department of Mathematics and Science (led by Professor Maria Chiara Montani), workshops were organized with all third-grade classes, involving approximately 150 students and 10 teachers. A LIFE MILCH supermarket was reconstructed in the school's science classroom, and students were guided by Professor Federica Piccoli in choosing products low in endocrine disruptors. The activity concluded with a plenary session in which students met directly with the university professors involved in the LIFE MILCH project, Professor Maria Street (pediatric endocrinologist) and Professor Francesco Nonnis Marzano (biologist). A themed exhibition was also set up at the school and informational materials were distributed, thus indirectly engaging the entire school population. The school activities represent an important opportunity for the LIFE MILCH project, aiming to raise awareness among young people about healthier lifestyles and dietary choices. The goal of the LIFE MILCH project is to provide, based on the scientific data generated, concrete recommendations for reducing exposure to endocrine disruptors and improving public health.
